“Perusing the Periemter” Fantasy Football: Week 13

”There is no joy, only anxiety, only pain, only disappointment. When I win a fantasy game,  I’m only happy not to lose. When I lose, I’m crushed.” - C.D. Carter

“Hi, My Name is T and I am a Fantasy football addict.” Here we are in Week 13 aka Judgement Week and many of us including myself are in in the last week(or 2nd to last) in the regular season in our Fantasy football leagues and the stakes are high…Playoff lives are on the line this week…and if there was ever a week you need a win this is it…Win or Go Home!!! While reading @CDCarter13‘s piece on Fantasy addiction posted on The 5th Down Blog for the NY Times (Which I highly recommend you do as well…) It opened my eyes to the fact that maybe I am an addict and like many addicts choose to ignore it is an issue…But I like to consider myself a “Functioning Addict” … I get off to my Twitter feed (Follow me @Whudey by the way) as news, insights, and analysis  comes pouring in daily by the minute from sun up to sun down from fantasy addicts such as myself…I can’t get enough of it…I go to bed dreaming of waiver wire moves I need to make in the morning…and I pray that Percy Harvin’s ankle is ok for the sake of my fake football squad..But I take care of my business.

Do I watch every game!? No. Do I watch or listen to a lot of Fantasy News via podcasts, radio, or television? No.  Do I carry my phone around in a holster so that I can scoop the latest waiver wire darling? Yes. Have I moaned Doug Martin’s name during intercourse?? No comment. Granted, I may be an addict but is that necessarily a bad thing…?? and My answer to that is No. What ultimately separates a fantasy addict from the casual fan is the knowledge of the game…I take pride in knowing that my fantasy knowledge allows me to travel the country and have great in depth sports talk with any and everyone’s team who I may strike conversation with…Knowing as much as I do about sports is a gift and the way I see it …fantasy sports is a way to flex my man muscles…As dorky, nerdy, or even geeky it seems a fantasy addict will amaze you with the knowledge they possess and can provide a very intelligent conversation to any die hard sports fan …So its a gift and a curse…as Rick James would say about cocaine…”Fantasy Sports is helluva drug..” and I as Tyrone Biggums, “Wants some rock!!” Let’s get our fix for Judgement Week as I explore other things I may be addicted too….

I will be grouping the offensive skill positions listing my “Loves” first and then “Hates”….After that I will color code them from most comfortable to least comfortable on placing into my starting lineup This week. Just trying to further give you some clarity on the fantasy football landscape for the upcoming week ..

I often eat a whole bag of these at the movies…and If you ever have done that before …you know your tongue hates you afterwards…

Brandon Weeden (CLE) If cleared to play..given the history of the Oakland Defense the last few weeks..he should have a very great day … (Side Note: Say Colt McCoy gets the start..I would plug him into my Draftstreet freeroll lineup here… that’s how confident of this matchup this week..)
Colin “CK7″ Kaepernick (SF) Given the green light for the 3rd week..It’s sooo obvious that he is the guy that gives them an advantage unknown to the team for the last 7 years or so…sorry Alex ..I like you but I like Kaep a little bit better..
Chad Henne (JAC) The last two weeks you would think that Henne was Matt Ryan..the guy is “En fuego” and another tasty matchup on his plate…Can I please have some more…
Ryan Fitzpatrick (BUF) This is as good of a week for him as any to have a multiple TD outing…
Ryan Tannenhill (MIA) Can he be consistent enough week to week to take a gamble on here..I guess we will see???
Carson Palmer (OAK) After getting destroyed by his old team a week ago..look for him to bounce back …historically he has had success vs. Cleveland so there is a glimer of hope here Raiders Fans..
……………………
Phillip Rivers (SD) Disgusted by him..and the Bengals have been pretty solid as a Defense the past few weeks…
Andrew Luck (IND) Playing on the road…
Joe Flacco (BAL) Playing the Steelers
Josh Freeman (TB) With Champ clamped on to VJax in this one…can he still be effective???
Jay Cutler (CHI) With the CBs appealing their suspensions..Marshall has no wiggle room this week..
Ben Roethlisberger (PIT) Doubt he goes but if he does…granted he is in my “Hate” section …I’d give serious thought to starting him…(Side Note: Upgrading The WRs and Miller)

I’m overly obsessed with Reality TV..(not all of it but enough to where it could be a problem…)

Micheal Bush (CHI) Like him a lot if Forte cannot go…Seattle isn’t all that tough versus the Run as they are the Pass..
Mikel LeShourse Sr. (DET) Going against Indy and looked really good a week ago on Thanksgiving..maybe there is something there…
Beanie Wells (ARI) Came back with a vengeance last week since Week 3 and It looks like the job is his…
Darren Sproles (NO) I don’t make huge leaps on TNF but Sproles has to be involved in the attack a great deal in this one..
Rashad Jennings (JAX) Not thrilled about him but if there is one week where his 2.1 YPC could come in handy..its this one..heck he hit paydirt last week..could do it again…
Chris Ivory (NO) This is more of a gut call but he is making the most of his touches and I could see him banging out a long score like he did a few weeks back…again don’t love the thought of playing a TNF player but if you are desperate…

*Bonus:If DeMarco Murray (DAL) starts..I’d lean toward starting him as well…*
…………..
Ryan Mathews (SD) Going up against on paper a favorable matchup…could disappoint..as the Cincinnati D has been lights out…
Johnathan Dwyer (PIT) He is getting the starting gig…but after last week’s Fumble show…if he commits a turnover it could result in a benching..besides Haley is still the OC …don’t trust it just yet..
Micheal Turner (ATL) Looks like all that boozing and all those carries are finally catching up to him as he continues to be in a liability to the Falcons Run game and fantasy rosters..
Knowshon Moreno (DEN) Not in this matchup…but good to see him make it through a game..a MUST ADD but I’m dubious this week..
Ray Rice (BAL) I say it every week folks…Blame Cam Cameron
Marshawn Lynch (SEA) Chicago Bears D has one job this week…stop the Skittle King from activating Beast Mode

After having a child 3 years ago …this has become my greatest addiction…if you have kids you know what I mean…(not a coffee drinker)

Cecil Shorts/Justin Blackmon (JAX ) If these guys are still on your wire …SCOOP THEM UP!!!
Stevie Johnson (BUF) Can he help Ryan Fitzpatrick have a multiple TD Day?!?!
Ryan Broyles (DET) I think he is a MUST START ROS…as long as Titus isn’t in the picture..
Devon Bess (MIA) A PPR Owner’s wet dream… should have a solid day in Standard leagues as well…
Mike Williams (TB) [See Vincent Jackson]
Josh Gordon (CLE) Starting to come into his own as the season progresses .. Weeden’s main guy via passing game should do work
……………………………………………..
Vincent Jackson (TAM) Champ Bailey
Sidney Rice (SEA) The rapport with RW3 is incredible but with Chicago on the other side of the ball ..No Thanks
Jeremy Maclin (PHI) Only game in town and face the Cowboys again…had a pretty decent go of it last time these two met but with DJax on IR …they could double cover him all day…
Torrey Smith (BAL) PIT D + Joe Flacco = Torrey is in for a goose egg type output…
Larry Fitzgerald (ARI) Lindley Problems…
Danario Alexander (SD) Leon Hall and The Cats will have an eye on him the whole game…

Gotta have this on ANYTHING and EVERYTHING….

Jermaine Gresham (CIN) The way Andy is playing right now..Him and Sanu have become viable week to week options…
Antonio Gates (SD) Cincy still has its issues with covering the TE…one of the games best here in Gates
Dustin Keller (NYJ) Other than Kerley he is really one of the only viable Jets fantasy options
Brandon Meyers (OAK) Carson has been looking for him…
Martellus Bennett (NYG) After saving some drunkard last weekend…hopefully he can save your fantasy team…
Rob Housler (ARI) Getting targets from a rookie QB as he should….
……….
Bronco TEs Who knows anymore who scores week to week…I give up…
Kyle Rudolph (MINN) If Harvin is back…it will limit his production…
Heath Miller (PIT) Only if Ben missing action do I not like him this week…If Ben is active I’d ride his saftey blanket
Vernon Davis (SF) *Sigh*
Jermicheal Finley (GB) *Face Palm*
Aaron Hernandez (NE) (a reverse jinx here…I love to Make it Rain!!)

Good luck to you all this Week 13 and remember….Trust your gut!!…everyone in the fantasy community including myself claim to know it all but at the end of the day its your team and your job to soak in all information and make the best calls for your team…Thank you for reading do not forget to check out my Fantasy Sports and Real Sports shows called “Perusing the Perimeter” and “A Case of the Whudeys” and the great programming brought to you by The FanastyTrade411 Radio Network..Please check us out on ITunes here
